Building "Types"
Commercial buildings- factories, where manufacturing takes place, office buildings, banks, markets/stores/shops
Institutional- government buildings, schools, universities, libraries, hospitals, prisons, museums, stadiums, theaters, Monuments, leisure (theme parks)
Religious buildings- "houses of gods", celebrating harvests,
Leisure
Residential buildings- individual, communal (apartments)


Serpentes civilization is nomadic, therefore the structures that they create are overall 'residential' in purpose, and are meant to be mobile/able to withstand harsh winters/sunlight. The mobile structures are made from the thick hides of larger creatures, and are umbrella/hut-like in function
These huts are used primarily to shade, hide from the harsh elements, and for resting. Come nightfall, the clan sets up 2-3 of these structures to sleep in overnight- a single hut can typically fit up to three adult Serpentesians.
The only structures that stay in place are the religious monuments that the Serpentesians make stops at for ritual/worship reasons. All of these particular buildings are found along riverbanks and oceans.
Transportation is usually on foot, however most clans have large domesticated herbivore creatures which they ride as they travel for long distances.

'Commercialism'- why are humans coming to this planet?
--> delicacies!! the food on Serpentes is *really* damn good, and intergalactic culinary enthusiasts visit the planet to try their diverse array of fruits with interesting new flavors.

'Institutions'
-there are no 'prisons' in this society, those who act outside of the institutions of society through murder, rape, or other morally wrong means are banished to live in solitude, with no one to rely on for safety but themselves. Society 'marks' those who are banished by cutting off their tails- which do not grow back.

Leisure (no space/buildings needed!) sports???

Xenology Report- Serpentes

Humanoid population of Serpentes Family Structure- what's a family? who are kin? what is marriage and its arrangement? all individual foraging clans are considered families, and they treat each other as such (blood or not). Each clan has at least two leaders- which are the eldest mated pair, which can be a same-sex relationship or heterosexual one, or a mix of both. Family/clan structure normally has 6-8 members. The mated m/f pair can have up to 3 young, clans prefer to have a controllable amount of mouths to feed, so a single birthing (m/f) pair per clan is common. After young are born, all of the adults of the clan take up parenting duties, regardless of blood relation. This forms a strong familial bond with all members of the clan. The concept of 'Marriage' is recognized by this culture, however it is a more private affair than a public one. Planet- Description of Flora & Fauna

Worldbuilding Planet Project- This planet's land is mostly made up of a winding mass of islands that appear in the shape of a serpent (because, why not). Overall, the planet's climate is hot and humid in the summers- with a few arid mountainous regions along some of the island shores. Due to this planet's strong tilt, the winters are also especially harsh- however the flora in the lush forests of the planet have adapted to survive the winter with their ability to store energy from sunlight for long periods of time- generating a self-heating system.  Likewise, a large sum of the creatures in the planet's mainland have adapted the ability to grow a thick coat of feathers (and some additionally gain blubber, like a seal) for the winter. Due to the flora of the planet keeping its leaves all year-round, the atmosphere of the planet is plentiful with oxygen- allowing for life to grow significantly larger than that of Earth. Class Assessment

 Reaction to ride: Watching the ride was a really fun and surprising experience, I really enjoyed how the ride started off very similarly to the previous Pirates of the Caribbean rides, but it suddenly takes a turn to something new and action-filled that wasn't there in the older rides. I especially was surprised by how good the animatronics were (especially the skeleton that just turns into Jack Sparrow!! HOW???), they were really fun to watch! One thing I enjoyed about it was that you could follow the story without having to understand the dialogue, and even as someone watching a video of the ride, it was very immersive! Discuss the Elements of the Work: The set-pieces used in the ride (the ships, treasure, animatronics) utilized alongside screens was very interesting and it worked very well, especially with the ride's use of framing the screens.
